Ever wondered what we actually talk about on an MK Dads Club walk? The short answer is: pretty much anything and everything. There’s no agenda. No awkward introductions. No expectation that you have to talk about anything you don’t want to. We just walk, chat and see where the conversation goes. On a recent walk, for example, we found ourselves talking about: Sleep routines 😴 Weaning Reconnecting with our partners Cars Child development Baby classes Soft plays And, of course, the weather! 🌦️ Sometimes the conversations are about being a dad. Sometimes they’re about work, hobbies, family, football, cars or … Continue reading What Do We Talk About on MK Dads Club Walks? 🚶♂️
These statistics are hard to read, but they are a reality we cannot afford to ignore: – 25% of people accessing talking therapies are men. – 75% of all suicides are men. Men are significantly less likely to seek professional help or talk about their struggles, yet they make up the vast majority of those lost to suicide. This silence is costing lives. As fathers, step-fathers, and granddads, the pressure to “hold it all together” for our families can make it even harder to admit when things are heavy. But opening up isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a vital step … Continue reading Key facts: Mens Mental Health
Who am I? And why did I start MK Dads Club? My name is Luke. I’m 34, a husband, and a dad to a 17-month-old boy. Last year, when I entered into fatherhood, I happened to be wearing this jumper to bring our boy home. It summed up parenthood perfectly for me – we are all just trying our best to do the best for the ones we love. The reality was, I didn’t feel like I was ever doing my best. I felt like I was failing, and I felt incredibly lonely while watching my wife thrive. No one … Continue reading Where it all began…
Rain? Last-minute change of venue? No problem! 🌧️🚶♂️ Today we headed out for the fourth MK Dads Club walk, this time at Howe Park Wood, What3Words ref ///craftsman.partly.vocab. A huge thank you to Ben, Sam, Chris, Gary, Ryan, Bo, Steve and Dean for braving the weather and coming along. And the best bit? Four new faces joined us today! 👊 That’s particularly brilliant to see, especially considering we had to make a last-minute change to the venue and the weather wasn’t exactly on our side. We also need to give a big shout out to the little ones who came … Continue reading Our fourth walk (August 2026)
Walk number three is done! 🚶♂️ On 1st August 2026, we headed out for our third MK Dads Club walk, and once again, it was great to see some new faces joining us. A big thank you to Steve, Adam, Toby, Ben and Chris for coming along this morning. The first MK Dads Club walk is officially complete! 🚶♂️ On 7th June 2026 we met at 10:30am at Willen Lake, with the meeting point at ///prayers.duties.creatures on What3words. It was a busy morning around the lake, with an official Cancer Research UK run taking place at the same time. Luckily, we managed to arrive between start times, so it wasn’t quite as busy as it could have been! I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting a huge turnout for our very first walk. In fact, I was expecting there to be two of us: myself and my father-in-law, Steve. … Continue reading Our First MK Dads Club Walk (June 2026)
